Meanwhile in Africa is a culturally responsive, supplemental Social Studies curriculum for students in grades K-5.
Absolutely not! Meanwhile in Africa’s interactive and engaging activities, coupled with its emphasis on entrepreneurship make it an important tool with which to present a more well-rounded, representative, and factual view of history for any student group.
Meanwhile in Africa was created by Michelle Person. Ms. Person is a teacher, principal, and educational consultant based in Cleveland, OH.
This curriculum was developed in alignment of the Social Studies standards from NCSS. We teach history, geography, economics, and civics through an empowering culturally responsive lens that celebrates diversity and encourages entrepreneurship.
Lessons are designed to be done in about 15 minutes.
Every grade level comes with a Parent/Teacher Guide that explains everything and comes with step-by-step instructions.
